DR GERARD ROBERTS (TEHOKAN)

DVM

Dr. Gerard Roberts (Tehokan) is a 1997 graduate of the Ontario Veterinary College (OVC) with a special interest in orthopaedics and dentistry. His passion for veterinary medicine began at the age of nine when his community would bring their pets to him for advice. Dr. Roberts values collaboration and loves working with clients to make the best decisions for their pets’ health.

Originally from the Iroquois Confederacy, Dr. Roberts is now based in the Ottawa region and feels a strong connection to the nearby Tyendinaga and Akwesasne communities. At home, he cares for two horses—Lady Loren Bacall, an Arabian, and Rain, a Canadian-Percheron-Welsh mix—and has a growing interest in building a saltwater aquarium.

Beyond veterinary care, Dr. Roberts is an accomplished powwow dancer and a member of the family band OKAMA, which was nominated for Indigenous Song and Album of the Year at the 2020 Gospel Music Awards. Their music, celebrated in over 40 countries, is available on many streaming platforms.
